Oceanside, California!

We were fortunate enough to take a last-minute vacation down to Oceanside, CA with my folks. After our San Diego vacation last Thanksgiving, we'll take any opportunity we can get to go down to the beach! It is like a little bit of heaven, and while we live so close, we have to take advantage of it!
We stayed the first couple of nights in a Wyndham resort just across from the boardwalk. This long, famous pier was also right across the street from our hotel. It was very neat, and the kids loved it! The first evening there we saw dolphins swimming way out in the ocean! We also saw many fishermen with fish in their buckets. Hailey really liked to watch the surfers. (like mother, like daughter I guess) At the very end of the pier was a cool "old diner" style restaurant we ate burgers and fries in. At night, the sides of the pier were all lit up. When we first set the kids down to walk in the sand they both started crying! Hailey remembers the beach when we were here almost a year ago, but Carter hasn't ever walked in sand before! They got used to it by the second day. At least Carter didn't want to run away! Grandma...excited to be at the beach! It's been a while. She was awesome to play in the sand with the kids so that Tristan and I could play in the ocean and get pounded by waves!

This is a cool pedal car that we rented and took up and down the boardwalk. Carter liked it better when we got going! I think my Mom has a few better pictures of us on this.We had a wonderful view from our balcony that overlooked the ocean! It's so refreshing to see the ocean first thing every morning and before bed every night. We never get tired of the sound of crashing waves.
