I finally made an appointment with Hailey's dentist before we move because 1) her front teeth are darkening at a pretty rapid rate and 2) I figure without dental insurance it's better to go to the dentist (the scary Dr. as Hailey calls him) we have at least seen before since Hailey is unsure about the whole dentist office anyway! After an x-ray he tells me we there is infection around both of the front teeth and we will probably end up needing to have them pulled! WHAT? Ug. Can this nightmare seriously get any worse? So I have a moment with something in my eye and ask him if there is a chance we won't have to...he suggested I wait like a month or so and take her back in to x-ray and see if there have been any changes. Needless to say I've had a few weeks now to get ok with the idea and Hailey and I are both brushing really good to try to make them better. If not, I guess she'll still be my cutest little cutie with or without front teeth! But that is like 4 more years at least until she gets new ones! Apparently, it is actually pretty common and the Dentist's little boy had his pulled out at 3 too! People will probably think she has been on sugar over-load regardless, so whatever we have to do to prevent damage to the permanent teeth is what I'll do. She says "we have to brush really good so they can get better and we won't have to have them out." I figured I might as well start preparing her for the worst now. :( Oh, and in case you have a little one who damages their baby teeth (this badly) 1) do not try to move them back (which I totally tried to do) and 2) take them into the dentist soon after, so that they can give an antibiotic to help decrease the risk of infection (oh yeah, didn't do that either) Chock it up to crappy single mom of the year!

You did NOT earn crappy mom of the year!!! YOU are AMAZING to me. I am sorry for Hailey's teeth. That is a bummer but at least they were baby teeth and who knew she would need an antibiotic. I am sooo happy that you are going to be together as a family again. I know you have been waiting forever to be together. Good luck with the move. What a great adventure you are about to embark on! Love ya!
What is this crappy mom of the year stuff?? Braydon is going to be 5 and he still hasn't been to the dentist at all!! I am soooo excited that you guys are moving to Vegas with Tristan! That is so awesome! I can't believe you guys made it work for as long as you did...I would have gone crazy! Let us know when you get all settled in...as soon as Kurt gets a job I'm sure we will need a road trip!! :) Tell Tristan hello for us!
The reason she has been to the dentist for a couple of checkups is because we qualified for the "Idaho Smiles" program when Tristan was getting unemployment. Otherwise, I would not have paid for a dentist appointment! :)
You know kids missing their front teeth have the cutest smiles!
I would not have known to do any of that either...so thanks!! That stinks though! But just think of the story it will create when she gets bigger!
I am so happy that you get to be with Tristan. Good luck and maybe we will have to stop in on one of our trips to California!!
How are things going??? I'm thinking of you!
ONe of my best friends in my ward just found out the same thing about her little boys front 4 teeth! His was a bacterial infection that an atibiotic could have killed too! I had never heard of such a thing before! See, you are not the only one... you are a great mommy! Hey, we learn as we go, right?
